Greyhound Buses

Travel by Greyhound Bus

http://www.greyhound.com.au/

One of the best ways of traveling is using the Greyhound buses.
I have traveled the whole East Coast using Greyhound buses, and they have some great travel packages that you can link with your YHA and Backpacker accommodation.

First decide where you want to go...say Perth to Broome and back. Then go online to seek the cheapest and best way of getting there. When the bus fare was $130 from Cloncurry to Brisbane, I found a cheap flight for almost the same...so I took that, but mostly the bus is the cheapest travel especially if you have a student or pensioner discount.

Mostly I use the buses as I can take photographs from the bus if I get a window seat, which I insist on having, and the stops means I see sights along the way, and also get to chat to other travelers.

Its better than just the aeroplane, where you get from A to B in a short time with no inbetween action.I enjoy seeing where I am traveling, so if time is not an issue, I travel by bus.

They have many special trips too...I am off to book one after viewing the site.

Have a look for where you can go and head off there
Frpm Perth, can I suggest a trip to Albany along the coast, and back through Manjimup and inland through the Tall Trees of Pemberton. Then do another trip north to either Monkey Mia and Broome, or inland to the Kimberlies.

Bon Voyage..wish I could come.
Here is my recommended trip from Perth to Broome

Backpacker Holidays

Backpacker Holidays

I have not found the backpackers as good as the YHA Hostels.
They attract local travelers as well as tourists seeking cheap accomodation, but often the backpacker lodges are not as comfortable as the YHA which have guidelines and rules.
You have to search through the listings, and find what suits you for the night. This site shows you some backpacker locations in Perth.

Just recently I booked into the Mt Isa Backpackers before leaving the outback planning on 3 days of touring Mt Isa and mingling with the travelers. After taking one look at the crowded and boisterous dorm cost $25, I opted for a single room for $60, with a double bed and shared community bathroom and kitchen.

Next day I was told I had to take the dorm as the single room was booked. I went to see it, and there were three tiny grotty iron beds, and the one left for me was on a top bunk. The room was scattered with backpacker gear and very untidy, disorderly and almost filthy. I went back in tears saying I could not live like this even for 2 nights.

I got on the expensive  Internet at reception, and did a search to find no more hostels here. I looked for budget accommodation and wa a caravan park for $60 a night. It was right out near the airport, but believe me, it was a dream afer the  Backpackers for the same price. It was a small single 'donga' with own bathroom and a small kitchen with coffee and a fridge.

Then in New Zealand, I got off the ferry and found a delightful Backpackers that I stayed at a few days and really loved, so there are good ones too.

If you need accomodation, use the internet to find it. You don't need to book weeks and days in advance.
You can usually search through google for the budget accommodation, and find one almost immediately.

I use the YHA mostly, then low cost budget accommodation, and I search diligently until I find what appeals.

Travel with YHA

Youth Hostels

Start by going to a Youth Hostel. You will find the nearest in the phone book. You can always start with the Perth YHA...its very good.

Ask about becoming a member, as then you get cheaper rates.
You can still stay at the YHA's without becoming a member, but it is a good investment if you plan to travel anywhere in Australia or around the world.

Here you get accommodation you can afford, the rooms are kept to a clean and good standard, it is reasonably safe as the other people who stay here are similar to yourself, and if you do take valuables, you can hire a safety box for a few dollars.

Here is the internet link in Australia.

Sydney Harbor...video taken from Ferry as we came into Sydney

From Sydney Harbour 2008

The best way to see Sydney is by Ferry.
From Circular Quay there are ferries that go almost everywhere you wish to go.
Tickets are purchased before you board the ferry and its a wonderful experience.

In this trip, I came into Sydney from Parramatta and traveled the river into the harbor.
Here we are coming into the main harbor.

Outback Australia...A Mile of Machines at Ilfracombe, Queensland

http://www.ebrochures.com/ebrochures/eBooks/Travel/A_Mile_of_Machines

Ilfracombe, past Longreach on the way to Barcaldine in Outback Queensland, is a whole street of Tractors and Farm Machinery.....all in great condition and well worth a visit.
The main street of Ilfracombe is a “museum” of historic rural machinery and provides a fascinating walk back through time...
As I drove through the Town, the Machinery caught my eye and I stopped to spend a delightful couple of hours wandering the fantastic Display and Museum.
These are the photos of the displays...There are over a 100 photos in this E-Book...and it is well worth browsing if you are interested in Old Tractors, and Farm Machinery.

This Ebook is available in different Languages.

China...Sanzu Temple Tianzhu

http://www.ebrochures.com/ebrochures/eBooks/Travel/Sanzu_Temple_Tianzhu_Mountain_China

From Temple Tianzhu

Tianzhu Mountain or Mount Tianzhu (Chinese: 天柱山pinyin: Tiān Zhù Shān; literally Heaven pillar mount) is a mountain in Anhui, China. Tianzhu Mountain has 45 peaks which are 1000 meters above sea level. There are two paths to reach the top, either from the east or from the west; Dalong will try the west path first because it is the easier one.
One of the famous sites is the Mystery Valley. It is a maze-like valley formed by the rocks falling from the mountain. The valley has 53 caves, which form a very complicated maze.
